Panic Button

In Victorian times, girls strung buttons to make charm strings. Once the string reached one thousand buttons—no two alike—legend said the owner would meet her beloved. But when Josie is approached to appraise a charm string, its owner insists it's cursed. Ever practical, Josie can't believe it—until the woman is found strangled with the charm string. Maybe the curse isn't real, but the killer certainly is.

"The writing is superb... The characters were interesting, the pace was fast, and there were plenty of clues planted."
